World-famous US talk-show host, Oprah Winfrey, has announced that her popular show will come to an end in 2011, after completing its 25th season.
The show has spawned amongst others; the Angel Network (for doing good), The Oprah Book Club (helping authors become best-sellers) and O Magazine.
The Oprah Show has been syndicated in 145 countries, including South Africa. Though, our local broadcaster, the SABC, has the annoying habit of repeating the same old episodes over and over.
Ms Winfrey can certainly afford to step down, in 2009 Forbes estimated her net worth to be $2.7 billion.
I wonder what we will get to watch after 2012 (I’m assuming that we’ll have the show at least until then in SA, because we get the episodes well after the US). Maybe the world will end in 2012. Or maybe SABC3 will continue to run the same old epsisodes every day until 2050.
I just hope they don’t bring back Felicia, is she still on the air?
Sadly I don’t have DSTV. I’d rather sit in the dark staring into nothingness during Eskom load-shedding than watch Felicia.
Thanks for your cool comment.
You don’t have DSTV. To be honest, some of those channels keep on friggin showing stuff over and over and in the end I find myself listening to some tunes on the DMX channels with a beer in my hand and my feet on the coffee table…Video did not kill the radio star!!
at least there’s movies and cartoons.

If they bring back Felicia I would not know because since I got DSTV there is no friggin way I watch the SABC crap. It is like you say, we seem to get shows that is so last season and I am sure the SABC will still be running Oprah until the end of time…which may well be 2012…but it may also be 2050. All I know is Felicia is lame and I will rather eat my own puke than watch her show. I am sure Oprah will be missed, but I must admit I am not a big fan. Thnx… Dan
